BBQ Grill Parts
Sometimes you have to replace
BBQ grill parts to keep your grill in tip top shape. Whether from overuse, abuse or neglect, parts on barbecue grills go bad.
There are some grill problems you'll become aware of immediately, and other problems that just creep up on you over time.
Grills Gone Wild...When Good Grills Go Bad!
Replacement Gas Ignitor Buttons
Ignitor assemblies go bad on gas grills at times, and without a working ignitor, the grill has to be lit with a match. They are easy to replace and not too expensive.
Replacement Food Grates / Charcoal Grates
Over time, food grates deteriorate. Porcelain cracks and separates from the metal on porcelain coated grates. Sometimes the chrome on shiny chome plated grates begins to peel off. In either of these cases, the grate should be replaced. Biting into a chunk of glass-hard porcelain, or swallowing a sharp-edged sliver of chrome would not be a pleasant experience.
Many charcoal grills, including Weber kettle grills and Weber Smokey Mountain Cookers, make use of a charcoal grate. The intense heat of the burning charcoal causes these to literally burn away over time, requiring replacement.
Replacement Gas Grill Burners
The burners of propane and natural gas grills are notorious for having problems, some that can be repaired, and others requiring replacement of the burner. Cheaper burners are made from thin, ferrous sheet metal and will rust away over time. Better quality burners are made from stainless steel, and the best are made of heavyweight brass.
Grease drippings can clog up the burners causing uneven burning. During the off season, insects and spiders like to make a home of gas burners, and doing so plug them up. Minor rusting from humidity and corrosion from grease drippings fouls passage ways. All of these problems can usually be repaired by cleaning with a wire brush, and/or blowing the burner out with compressed air. (a good thing to do with your gas grill at the start of each season)
Grease and humidity can also cause major corrosion over time, eating holes completely through the metal. When this happens, the burners should be replaced ASAP, for both safety and cooking quality issues.
Other Replacement BBQ Grill Parts
Stuff happens, and you may end up needing some other part for your grill. Control knobs break or fall off and get lost. Gas valve go bad. Plastic wheels break. Propane tank clamp screws disappear. Gas hoses crack and begin leaking. You name it, and you just might need to replace it someday.
Sometimes damage happens that makes replacing the grill or smoker necessary. If the lid gets bent or or the hinge pin brackets break off, or after years of neglect, there are several problems that need fixing, it could very well be cheaper to just buy a new cooker than go to the trouble and expense of replacing all the bad parts.
And sometimes, it's just nice to have a brand new, shiny barbeque grill or meat smoker. But if it's not time for that yet, one or two
bbq grill parts, along with some elbow grease, can make your old grill cook almost as good as new.
