Grilled Salmon Steaks

Ginger and soy flavor these grilled salmon steaks, adding an Asian flair to this tasty salmon recipe. When served beside a bed of white rice and some quick grilled vegetables you have a tasty, complete meal.

The salmon marinade is easy to put together. Ingredients to marinate 2 pounds of salmon steaks include:

1 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup sake
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
2 teaspoons fresh grated ginger root
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Combine the marinade ingredients. Place the steaks in plastic food storage container, pour in the marinade, and refrigerate. Marinate the salmon steaks for 2 hours.

Preheat your grill to medium-high temperature. Oil the grate, then place the steaks directly over the heat. Grill for 3 to 5 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness. A total of 7 to 8 minutes of grilling per inch of steak thickness is a general rule. Allow the grilled ginger salmon steaks to rest, covered with a sheet of foil, for 5 minutes after coming off the grill.

While the salmon rests, turn your grill up to high and throw on a few seasoned green onions and some red and yellow pepper strips. (To prep the veggies for the grill, coat them with oil and season with salt and pepper.) Cook for just a minute or two on each side, being careful they don't burn.
