Kansas City Dry Rub

Season those pork ribs to perfection with this Kansas City dry rub recipe. The sweet and spicy combination of spices will flavor your ribs with the taste that made KC BBQ famous!

The ingredients in this dry rub recipes are also commonly found in Kansas City style barbecue sauce. Sweetened with brown sugar, and flavored with a variety of spices and seasonings, this rib rub can't be beat!

INGREDIENTS:

One-half cup brown sugar
One-half cup paprika
One quarter cup black pepper
Two tablespoons onion powder
Two tablespoons chili powder
One tablespoon salt
Two teaspoons garlic powder
Two teaspoons mustard powder
One teaspoon powdered cayenne
One-half teaspoon nutmeg

Combine all ingredients, mixing well. For more bite you can increase the amount of cayenne or substitute hot paprika for the regular stuff.

Season the slab of pork ribs with the KC dry rub, massaging it in well. I usually sprinkle on a bit more for good measure after the rubdown.

Smoke or barbecue the ribs until tender. If you'd like to try this one in the oven, brush a teaspoon of liquid smoke onto the slab before you season them. Bake on a raised rack at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for three to four hours, or until tender and juicy.
