Slow Cooker Ribs

Oniony barbecued slow cooker ribs are great tasting and simple to make. Make your own barbecue sauce, or use bottled sauce to save time.

Either spare ribs or country style ribs can be used, but I prefer the country ribs here. You get more meat per pound of ribs, so they are economical. They will hold together better than spareribs would, so they'll look nicer when served.

Crockpot Ribs recipe

This is an easy one, so you don't have to take notes. What you'll need:

Three pounds of country style ribs
One large, or two medium onions, coarsely chopped
One and one-half cups barbecue sauce
One-half cup beer or apple juice, your choice

Add the ribs to the crock pot, then the chopped onions. Combine the bbq sauce with the beer or juice, and pour the mixture over the ribs and onions. Cover it up and cook for two hours on high. Drop the temperature down to low and cook for another three or four hours. Basting is optional, but recommended.

If you like, shred the slow cooked ribs and mix them with the onions and enough of the sauce to make pulled pork for sandwiches. Serve on white buns with dill pickle slices and some hot sauce, and you've got yourself a meal!
