Smoked Salmon Chowder

Who needs clams? This incredible smoked salmon chowder also sports the flavor of smoky bacon. MMMmmmm, you can't go wrong with bacon!

It also includes standard chowder ingredients, like potatoes, milk, half and half, onions, but I can't stop thinking about the combination of smoky bacon and smoky salmon. Together. In one bowl. Let's get started!

Smoky Salmon Bacon Chowder

Recipe makes enough for 4 normal, or 2 big appetites.

INGREDIENTS

Fry the bacon in a skillet until crispy, and remove to drain. Add the chopped onion to the bacon grease and fry until soft. Scrape the onions, bacon grease and all, into a large soup pot. Add the water, potatoes and black pepper, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and cook until potatoes are tender.

Remove the soup pot from heat and add the smoked salmon. Using a whisk, mix the flour into the milk until smooth, then pour it, along with the half and half in with the potatoes and salmon.

Over medium heat, stir constantly until the smoked salmon chowder comes to light boil and thickens. Serve immediately, topped with crumbled, crispy bacon.
